about

At A Safe Distance is the first new music from Beginnings since 2010. A concise set of looped compositions and long-form drifters that demonstrate a light touch with effects-heavy guitar playing.

"Losing Someone" opens with muted tones and star-gazing chords that gently unfold into the echoing layers of "An Event Out Of Sequence". Here, patterned swells and controlled noise build around a single motif to noir-soundtrack effect.

After the harmonic interlude of "Not Quite Matter...", it takes a road of pure tonal bliss as "Go North and Disappear" rolls out glassy sustain and feather-light harmonies.

"Blood Ritual" briefly disrupts the tranquillity with swirling feedback on the verge of collapse before the closing drift of "Three Syllables".

For the discerning listener, there is breathing room and a tactile nature that comes from a guitarist feeling his way through, to create sounds that depict deserted space and time passing.
